Steve never married nor had children – he was an “Old Irish Bachelor” and avid lover of the oceans and beaches. His life was like a sailboat on the oceans, going where the winds and tides took him.
Steve is survived by brother David Cundy, Jr (wife Linda); sister Margot Alexander (husband Jay and their sons, JJ and Paul); sister Lisa Grindstaff (husband David); brother John Niemela; His nieces and nephew (who he doted on from the time they were born) niece Christine Cundy; nephew Brett Cundy (wife Kelly and their children Brianna, Ethan, and Ryan); and niece JJ Grindstaff. He was preceded in death by his parents David and Jo Cundy Niemela; his step-father George Niemela; and his brother Rob Niemela. Steve is survived by many friends, new and old, The Nut Squad (you know who you are); Bob & Susan, Doug, Maxine, Johnny & Lynda, Mike & Susie, Sonny & Nancy, Noel, Skeeter, Chip, Susan R., Jimmy, Marcia, Gary, Mike, Gordon and all of Steve’s Green Cove Springs Marina friends, and countless other friends Steve has gathered along his travels.
Steve graduated from the University of West Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and then from Georgia Tech with a Master of Science in Physics. He actually could answer the question, “Why is the sky blue?”
A Celebration of Steve’s Life will be planned by the family for Springtime 2018.
