Margaret “Peggy” Persandi was born on October 6, 1928 in Washington, D.C. as Margaret Patterson. She married George Carmine Persandi on October 16, 1954 in Coral Gables, FL. The couple lived in Coral Gables for more than 30 years where George was an attorney and Peggy worked as his legal secretary. After they retired in 1983, they remained in South Florida until George passed away in 2007. Peggy then joined her family in Jacksonville, FL.
Peggy had a passion for animals and loved her Husky/German Shepherd mix, Rocky, dearly. She battled lung cancer for nine years and was a true fighter. She passed away on Monday, October 10 surrounded by family with each of her sons holding her hand and reminiscing over old stories.
She will be profoundly missed by her daughter, Dona ; sons, George Jr. and Michael; daughters-in-law Linda and Missy; grandchildren, Crisi, Roly, Wayne, Keith, Chris, Jacqui, and Tony; and the rest of her family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 21 at Naugle Funeral Home, 1203 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m., followed by the service at 4 p.m. A short reception will take place afterward.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Margaret’s name to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
