James Louis Potts

James Louis Potts, 86, of Jacksonville, passed away Monday October 9, at St. Vincent’s Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born in Chicago, Illinois during the Great Depression. He attended Kent State University and served in the military. He later devoted himself to the automobile industry which became his life’s work. Jim and Marilyn met and were married shortly after in June. They moved from Ohio to Jacksonville where they began their life and family. They relocated to Birmingham, Alabama where their daughter was born in 1978. After which they returned to Jacksonville and raised both of their children here. Jim worked in the automobile industry all along the way, and most recently retired from Osteen Volvo Volkswagen in 2012. Jim was a loving and dedicated husband and father who loved nothing more than spending time with his family and enjoying his favorite sports and tv shows.
He is preceded in heaven by his father, Percy B. Potts, his mother, Genevieve Potts, his brother Robert “Bob” Potts, and his sister, Genevieve “Gen” Potts.

Jim is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Marilyn C. Potts, his daughter, Laura Lee Potts, and his son, John Robert Potts and his grandson, Johnathan “Adam” Potts as well as 2 other grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 18th at 12 pm at The Red Lion Hotel at 4700 Salisbury Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
Services are under the direction of Naugle-Schnauss funeral home.
