Obituary for Jerry Jackson Hyde
Jerry Hyde, 85, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on November 4, 2017. Born on July 3, 1932 in Asheville, N.C., he grew up in Jacksonville, where he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. He then received a BA degree from Florida State University and a Master’s Degree from Jacksonville University.
He spent many years in the insurance industry and with the State Insurance Commission in Jacksonville. Jerry enjoyed teaching history and anthropology for several years at FCCJ evening classes. He was past state president of the Florida Anthropological Society for two terms.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Madelyn R. Hyde, two sons, Larry Hyde and Allen Hyde, and many loving relatives and friends. A private family celebration of his life will be held.
Jerry will be remembered for his warm sense of humor with a twinkle in his eye and a lasting desire to learn and explore. Well done!!!!
